Kjellberg Finsterwalde’s digitally controlled Q plasma cutting unit ready for Industry 4.0

Kjellberg Finsterwalde has introduced its first Industry 4.0-capable series of plasma cutting systems. With the newly developed inverter power source for the Q, the cutting process is controlled digitally through real-time communication between the components and monitored by a variety of sensors on the basis of process and status indicators.

A browser-based user interface, the Q-Desk, displays the machine, process, and consumption information to the user and provides forecasts and recommendations for action. The interface also provides the user with additional information independent of device and location, such as FAQs and video tutorials. The process information can be made available to a larger machine network to ensure interoperability with other systems such as extraction systems or to provide comprehensive cost monitoring.
