JM Steel orders slitting and slit coil packaging line

JM Steel has ordered a Braner/Loopco shape-correction slitting and automatic slit coil packaging line to be installed at its Sinton, Texas, facility. It has the capacity to handle 80,000-lb. by 78-in.-wide coils with mechanical properties ranging to 100,000 PSI in gauges to 1/4 in.

The line features an uncoiler that handles 20- through 32-in.-ID coils, an entry straightener, a Turret Head slitter, a thin-gauge loop doubler, nonmarking hydrostatic tensioner, and a CNC cluster leveler with capacity to shape-correct the entire gauge range. It also includes a recoiler that changes 20- to 24-in.-ID coils in about three minutes, as well as slit coil OD banding that is accomplished offline.
