Rotary encoder designed for demanding applications

Heidenhain has introduced the ROD 1930 rotary encoder series for use in motion control environments. The incremental encoder can withstand radial shaft loads of 200 N and axial shaft loads of 150 N.

The encoder is available with HTL or HTLs outputs, which allow simplified connection to many standard PLCs. The outputs are commonly used in heavy-duty applications such as paper, crane, and material handling technologies.

The aluminum housing is 4.72 in. dia. A 0.59-in. single- or double-ended shaft is available, with feather key. The housing is rated to IP 66. Cables are connected through a terminal box on top of the housing. The terminal box can face four different directions, allowing for varied mounting configurations.
