Wheel cell incorporates wheel drilling machine, two lathes, robot

Okuma America Corp. has launched the new All-Okuma wheel cell. It includes the new MB-56VA-AW aluminum wheel drilling machine, as well as two Okuma CNC lathes in a choice of sizes, a FANUC robot, and a variety of conveyance options.

All three machines feature the THINC®-OSP open-architecture CNC. The wheel cell is designed to enable wheel manufacturers to increase productivity and efficiency while minimizing downtime, the company states.

The drilling machine's integrated, high-speed trunnion table provides 4-axis machining capabilities. The lathes, available in sizes from 16 to 24 in., feature quick-changeover workholding that provides flexible top tooling for the chuck. The CNC enables real-time monitoring and alarm notifications, and third-party applications are possible. The robot features a power gripper design and vision technology.
