Tray-style sheet hydroforming presses made in U.S.

Triform has announced that two of its tray-style sheet hydroforming presses are the first of their kind manufactured in the U.S. in more than 30 years.

The fluid cell presses use high-pressure hydraulic fluid in a flexible rubber bladder to form sheet metal using a single tool. The presses place uniform pressure on the part's surface, resulting in net-shape part production with minimal springback, the manufacturer states.

The 1648BD features a 16- by 48-in. work envelope; the 2448BD has a 24- by 48-in. work envelope. Both presses deliver standard pressure up to 5,000 PSI. The 1648BD press also is available in a 10,000-PSI configuration.

The compact, portable presses require no special flooring.
