System provides 360-degree extrusion profile deburring

Abtex Corp. has introduced a compact, portable system for deburring saw-cut aluminum extrusion profiles in preparation for scanning measurement.

The profile end preparation system is 24 in. wide, 24 in. long, and 48 in. high. The operator clamps the sample part in place and then feeds the part manually across the face of the abrasive filament disc brush. When the part carrier makes contact with the limit switch, the 2-HP, 1,750-RPM electric motor reverses direction to provide 360-degree deburring.

The system removes burrs regardless of workpiece geometry, the company states, without affecting the lateral surface finish.
