Extra-thin cutoff wheel maintains long lifespan

Walter Surface Technologies (WST) has introduced the Zip One extra-thin cutoff wheel. Designed for cutting thin-gauge metal, the 0.031-in. wheel is bonded with a proprietary mix of high-performance abrasives that deliver extra-cool cutting. A new technology enables an optimal grit distribution throughout the disc, the company reports.

The tool delivers precise cuts with low friction and without vibrations. High-speed cutting prevents discoloration on cuts and helps reduce postcut finishing, such as burr removal. Manufactured with an iron-free mix, the wheel will not contaminate stainless steel. According to the company, the wheel has a significantly longer lifespan compared to other true 0.031-in. wheels.
