Aluminum-oxide surface conditioning materials made for challenging applications

Norton | Saint-Gobain has expanded its Norton Rapid Prep™ nonwoven surface conditioning product line. The Bear-Tex® portfolio now includes a new regular flex (RF) line of aluminum oxide (A/O) products that are suitable for demanding belt and quick-change disc applications.

Featuring a design that combines premium A/O abrasive grain with a strong Y-wt. polyester backing, the products are durable and flexible with very low stretch characteristics, according to the company. The products also incorporate the company’s Clean Bond™ resin technology for a smear-free finish, eliminating rework process steps.

The new product line has been designed for use in belt forms. The materials are suitable for surface-conditioning applications such as blending and deburring in industries ranging from aerospace to metal fabrication and MRO.
