Low manganese emission welding wire enhances worker safety

ESAB Welding & Cutting Products has introduced Coreweld C6 LF, a new low-manganese-emission, high-efficiency, metal-cored welding wire developed in response to new EPA regulations and guidelines from American Conference of Government Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH) for manganese exposure limits.

Compared to standard metal-cored electrodes of the same classification, the wire has less than half the manganese content and reduces the manganese levels in the welding fumes. According to the company, the wire also provides consistent arc stability, very low spatter, good bead shape, and minimum cleanup. Its low diffusible hydrogen level helps prevent hydrogen-induced cold cracking in the welding of high-strength steel.

The wire is suitable for both hand-held and robotic or automated applications in the automotive industry, as well as for civil construction, mobile and heavy equipment, shipbuilding, railcar manufacturing, and general fabrication.
