Unison has developed an all-electric tube bending machine that can bend tubes and pipes up to 9 in. dia. According to the company, the availability of an all-electric machine at this size level brings instant setup and precision bending to applications in the shipbuilding, power generation, oil and gas, and chemical processing industries. Until this development, the largest all-electric machines offered by most vendors could typically handle maximum tube and pipe sizes up to 7 in.

The machine’s all-electric bending motion, controlled by software-programmable, closed-loop servomotor axes, allows automatic machine setup and delivers high accuracy and repeatability from batch to batch, the manufacturer states.

The bend head is designed with reduced clamp and pressure die profiles. This provides free space around the bending head to help minimize the potential for interference and increase production flexibility.
