Applied Fusion installs second super-large electron beam welder

Precision metal fabricator Applied Fusion, San Leandro, Calif., has completed the installation of its second 8-axis, CNC, large electron beam welding machine. Its 125-ton, 64-cu.-m vacuum chamber provides a large working envelope, and the 65-in., tiltable rotary table with a Z-axis movement allows a variety of part options.

Fast vacuum pumping speeds enable high throughput and welding of many smaller parts in a single pump-down cycle, the company reports.

The firm continues to assist customers with material selections and joint designs, offering capacity to design and manufacture tooling and fixturing in-house.
