Avure Technologies to supply hydroform deep-draw press to Kale Pratt & Whitney

Avure Technologies, Västerås, Sweden, with additional facilities in Columbus, Ohio, has received an order for a hydroform deep-draw press from Kale Pratt & Whitney, a joint venture between Kale Holding of Istanbul, Turkey, and aircraft engine manufacturer Pratt & Whitney USA.

The press, slated to become operational in the spring of 2014, will be installed at a new Turkish facility for the production of aircraft engine components. Material draw ratios of up to 3-to-1 are achievable, eliminating several forming operations, intermediate heat treatments, and operator dependencies. The hydroform process requires one rigid tool half, the other being a flexible rubber diaphragm, which helps save costs, the company states.
