Chief Fabrication to open powder coating operation in Nebraska

Chief Fabrication, a division of Chief Industries Inc. in Grand Island, Neb., will open a newly built powder coat facility in August 2014. Once in full production, the facility will be one of the largest powder coat operations in the country, according to the manufacturer.

The facility will apply primer and topcoat in one pass, accommodating parts up to 17 ft. long. Other capabilities include a seven-stage stainless steel, 170-ft. cleaning system with acid pickle laser scale removal; capacities of 800 lbs. per hook and 1,300 lbs. per part; part package size of 10 by 4 by 6 ft. and 17 ft. by 18 in. by 6 ft.; window size of 5 by 7 ft.; and line speeds up to 12 FPM.
