Evana Automation ships 24-station assembly/test system to Tier 1 auto supplier

Evana Automation Specialists, Evansville, Ind., has shipped a lean, 24-station assembly and test system to a Tier 1 automotive supplier of drive line and drive train systems.

The flexible, semiautomated system assembles and tests two different automobile power transfer units with 100 percent traceability of key assembly and test data. Each station operates independently but is synched to the master database via bar codes so that nonconforming assemblies are not allowed to pass. Assembly steps include bearing and seal presses, drive and fastener installation, snap ring installations, shim selection and verification, oil fill, leak test, run-in, as well as noise/vibration/harmonics testing.
