Evana Automation builds custom assembly and test systems for Tier 1 automotive supplier

Evansville, Ind.-based Evana Automation Specialists, a subsidiary of Phillips Service Industries (PSI) and systems integrator and builder of custom, automated assembly and test systems, is building the fifth and sixth of seven custom assembly and test systems, based on a multiyear contract, for a Tier 1 automotive supplier.

The systems, which simplify the production of automobile steering assemblies, provide three main functions: assembly of a ball nut; assembly of the ball nut to a rack; and noise, vibration, and functional testing of the final assembled part. Upon successful testing, the assembly is coated with an antirusting agent.

Delivery of the two systems, which are going to a manufacturing facility in Poland, is scheduled for December 2014.
