optical comparator

 noun

Definitions

  1. A device (similar to a microscope) used to measure small parts to ensure the quality of the part being made. The part is set on the comparator's staging area. The image of the part is magnified and projected onto a large screen, rather than viewed through eyepieces as in a typical microscope.
