AON3D upgrades firmware for high-temp 3D printer

AON3D has developed a firmware upgrade for its M2+, an IDEX (independent dual extrusion) 3D printer designed to build parts from high-temperature materials. The upgrade facilitates duplication-mode and mirror-mode 3D printing, and, according to the Montreal manufacturer, doubles the output of new and existing M2+ machines.

With the upgrade, the AON M2+ will be able to print two of the same part or two mirrored parts concurrently. In addition to increased productivity, the upgrade reportedly provides greater design freedom. Examples include the ability to print large internal geometries and nonlinear holes with water-soluble support options, which reduces labor-intensive postprocessing.

The company added that unlike other IDEX printers, the M2+ prints high-performance materials like PEEK, PEKK, and Ultem.
