Würth agrees to distribute German metal 3D printer

Würth Additive, Indianapolis, will distribute Kurtz Ersa’s Alpha 140 metal printer.

Würth Additive Group, an Indianapolis-based division of Würth Industry North America, has signed an agreement to distribute Kurtz Ersa Inc.’s Alpha 140 metal 3D printer.

A distinguishing feature of the printer is its fiber-coupled diode laser that is guided coaxially to the machine’s powder bed. This action yields a constant focus diameter across the entire build space, which optimizes the process. The plug-and-play Alpha 140 3D-prints parts from stainless steels, tool steels, and nickel-based alloys. The components produced reportedly have a density up to 99.9%.

Würth Industry North America is a division of the German company Würth Group, the world’s largest industrial distributor. Kurtz, also of Germany, builds molding and electronics-production machines. The 240-year-old company has offices worldwide, including Plymouth, Wis., and Fort Worth, Texas.
