Tooling creates lines for hand bending

May 10, 2005

Mate Precision Tooling's Easy Bend™ tooling creates bend lines in metal to simplify hand bending fabricated assemblies for which conventional press brake forming isn't practical.

The tool features an upper tool with a linear V-line stencil engraved onto the tool face. The lower tool is a blank die. As the upper tool penetrates the sheet metal, a bend line is created.

Bend line penetration depends on the workpiece's ductility and thickness. Bend lines up to 12 in. (300 mm) are possible in 0.078-in.- (2.00-mm-) thick mild steel and 0.059-in.-(1.50-mm-) thick stainless steel.
