Reciprocating blades for pneumatic saws introduced

The L.S. Starrett Co. has introduced a line of saw blades designed for pneumatic reciprocating saws. The blades use the company's bi-metal unique® technology, which joins two strips of high-speed steel wires to a backing steel in a solid phase, using the principle of solid-state diffusion bonding.

This proprietary, solid-state diffusion process generates 170 percent more weld contact area compared to existing bimetal high-speed steels, the company states. The result is reduced fracture and breakage at the high-speed steel/ backing material interface.

The line includes three different blades for cutting metal—offered in 18, 24, or 32 teeth per inch (TPI)—and a variable-pitch (14 to 18 TPI), multipurpose blade for cutting composites, steel sheet, and wood.

The blades measure 3-5/8 in. long by 0.024 in. thick by ½ in. wide. Each is available in packages of five, 20, and 50.
