AvantGo

AvantGo is website that allows users of Palm, PocketPC, and some next-generation phones the ability to pull information from the Internet. This is a FREE service.

The site offers a variety of methods to obtain information from different websites. For our purposes you will need a custom channel.

1. Create a FREE My AvantGo account. You will be asked to download a program to your computer that will update your AvantGo pages every time you are connected to the Internet and perform a "sync" on your handheld device.

2. Once you have downloaded the program and established your account, then look to the left of your screen and click on "My Account".

3. Under the heading Account Management Tasks, click on "Create custom channel."

4. This page asks for information regarding the channel you would like to set up. Change the following:



5. AvantGo will confirm with "custom channel created successfully".

6. Sync your handheld device. This will download onto your device the available mobile site, and the program will search for updated pages whenever you sync your device again.

7. Open the AvantGo application on your device. Click on the channel with the name you gave earlier and enjoy.

In order to receive the current pages, you must be connected to the Internet when you sync your handheld device. This method allows you to receive the web pages at the time of your sync.
