Precision metal fabricator Unifab Corp., Portage, Mich., has been recognized as one of the 2024 recipients of the Michigan 50 Companies to Watch Award, presented by Michigan Celebrates Small Business.
The 2024 Michigan 50 Companies to Watch have made a substantial collective economic impact, responsible for $414.3 million in total annual revenue during 2023, and are projected to increase their revenue by 18% in 2024. Together they provide 1,577 full-time equivalent employees—1,565 within the state of Michigan—and are projected to create more than 339 jobs in 2024.
“Our team has worked diligently and collaboratively to increase our revenues by 87% from fiscal year 2019 to 2023, grow our workforce by 23% from 2019 to today, and further contribute to the economic stability of greater Portage and Kalamazoo by serving customers throughout the Midwest,” said Rob Thayer, Unifab CEO.
Companies nominated for the award must be privately held and based in Michigan, with six to 99 full-time-equivalent employees and generating $750,000 to $50 million in annual revenue or working capital from investors or grants. Applicants are evaluated on employee or sales growth, exceptional entrepreneurial leadership, and sustainable competitive advantage.
Unifab Corp. offers engineering, precision metal fabrication, and finishing services, focusing primarily on aluminum, stainless steel, and mild steel components.
